Cimi - North

Symbolism:

Cimi (Kee-Mee), the Mayan word for this day, comes from the root word for death. They glyph for the day is clearly a skull, the skull of the death god. The owl, a night bird as well as an omen of death, was also linked to this day, as was the underworld.

Personality:

Cimi types tend to be security conscious, materialistic, sacrificing, accepting of change, and helpful. They are not often confident leaders and will more often comfortable accept a secondary role or position. Tradition appeals to them, and since they have a strong faith, so does religion. Often those born under this sign are unsure of where their life is headed, and faith or instinct are all they can go on.

They are materialistic, very concerned with domestic security, and may have an interest in real estate, or perhaps work with homes or houses in some way. They have an interest and concern for the community and politics and are concerned with what is happening in the world or their neighborhood.

They like to feel that they can do something about it. They cooperate well with others and rarely allow their egos to get in the way of progress toward the collective goals in which they believe. Those Cimi who make politics a career will often associate themselves with powerful allies, even with those more powerful than themselves.

Cimi types take all kinds of responsibilities very seriously. Obligations to others, and a sense of duty, tend to dominate their lives. Because Cimi types are usually polite and hesitant to speak their true feelings, they tend to give in to others more often than may be necessary or even reasonable.

Challenge:

To have faith; not to be a victim; not to feel obliged to make too many sacrifices.

Solution:

To become truly useful to society and the world around them. Cimi

1-Ahau

Beneath the 1-Ahau surface personality lies a self that is romantic and attracted to a glamorous lifestyle. Such a person may find success in a life in fashion or as a performer or public personality. The greatest weakness of Ahau people is in matters of relationship. In this area they tend to be idealistic and can often make poor choices that lead to problems.

G-5 (North)

This Lord is positioned at the midpoint of the series of nine. A person under the influence of G-5 seeks to be at the center of a group and will sometimes use others to get there.

One of G-5's greatest challenges is to act from their centers and not to use or be used by others. People born under the influence of this lord become deeply involved in relationships but, for the most part, also struggle with them. They are sensitive people and they tend to be touchy about a number of things, including their own expectations. Because they seek perfection, they are sensitive to disappointments, and often need to develop more realistic expectations and avoid putting the burden of realitonship failures onto others.

Idealistic and compromising by nature, G-5 types are rarely content with the choices they have made. Their dark side includes a tendency to hold distorted opinions or to have over-inflated expectations of others.

At their worst, they can be blamers, blind to the reality that they are the cause of their own problems. Recognizing this pattern can be a tremendous step forward in a G-5's spiritual progress. These types need to be with others who are stable and helpful, and avoid those who could worsen their fears. They also need to be accepting of others. It is their own beliefs about relationships that both their problems and their solutions lie. A prominent moon, an emphasized seventh house, and Scorpio/Pluto are found in the charts of those born here.

-----------------------------------------------------

The number 7 may confuse some people, for it sometimes represents death, or at least “endings.” The reason for this may not be readily apparent. In order to illustrate this, we may take a look at any tzolk’in diagram. Any day-sign sequence beginning with 1 will end in a 7. It will be like this: 1, 8, 2, 9, 3, 10, 4, 11, 5, 12, 6, 13, 7. This is why 7 is so often considered a symbol of endings. In the Popol Vuh, the Hero Twins are named 1 Hunahpu and 7 Hunahpu, while the most important Underworld Lords are named 1 Death and 7 Death. When 1 and 7 are paired together in such a fashion, it is as if we were saying: “The beginning and end of the Hero Twins archetype,” or “The alpha and omega of the Death archetype.” Rituals are seldom performed on 7 days.
CIMI (KAME) DEATH AND REBIRTH: Signifies death, the lord of the darkness, fortitude, humility and obedience. Death is not evil, and grammatically, the word kame signifies the present tense or “the eternal now.” Upon this day we pray that we and those dear to us have long life. There is a special connection to the world of the ancestors on this day; communication with other worlds is possible. This day is also favorable for healing and for the protection of travelers. This day has much feminine energy and is a good day upon which to resolve marital conflict.
