Tzolkin: 4 Aq'ab'al
Long Count: 12.19.18.4.3

Aqabal is the symbol of beginning, a sign stating that the dawn and the sun are close to a new day, a new era, a new enduring blessed life that exists on the face of the earth.

Aqabal is a symbol of the first rays of sun that radiate from the horizon, driving away obscurity and the darkness of night.

-----------------------------------------------------

The Number 4 symbolizes wholeness. It is associated with Ahau, the Sun God as cosmic lord (the word ahau literally means lord). Why is this a solar number? The word for “day” (k’in in Yucatec or q’ij in K’iche’) is the same as the word for “sun”; a day is a complete passage of the sun. The sun or the day has four stations: dawn, noon, sunset and midnight. These four components of each day, each “sun,” can be conceptually expanded to include the solstices and equinoxes; thus the year is also a 4. There is evidence that the Classic Maya divided the universe into four sections marked by the two intersections of the Milky Way with the ecliptic. Thus we live in a fourfold universe. The Maya still lay out their ritual altars in a fourfold pattern. The number 4 represents the four elements: Air, Fire, Earth and Water; these compose nature and give us life. Four is also the Four Directions and the Four Pillars which hold up the Earth.
AKBAL (AQ’AB’AL) DAWN: Signifies awakening, dawn, marriage, light and enchantment. It is the nawal of clarity or light, the day to ask for the occurrence of the light in all things. It is especially a day of marriage, love and romance.. This day symbolizes both darkness and dawn; hence it is a day of new beginnings. Upon this day, we express our intention always to think and act with perfect clarity. Needless to say, it is also perhaps the most favorable for day for love and marriage (though Chuen is also very good, especially for the actual marriage ceremony). An Akbal day can also be quite favorable for finding a job.

The most stable of all forms is the cube. Four is the establishment of volume by definition. The four directions give orientation to any form as the height, length, depth and breadth give shape to any form. The energy of four, sets the parameters, which establish the freedoms and barriers needed to create a game, a work or relationship. The frequency of Four is capable of slowing things down enough to see the deeper meaning behind the issue

Akbal-West

Symbolism:

Akbal (ahk-BAL) is the Mayan name for this day-sign, which means darkness or night. Another Mayan name for this day-sign is Uotan, meaning heart, which had associations with Earth Gods and the drum. The glyph for Akbal may signify an animal of the underworld, perhaps the jaguar.

Personality:

Akbal types are often powerful and tend to project an imposing or attractive presence on the world around them. Their personal power may be exerted in subtle ways, but it is always something others must contend with.

In many cases, this power is completely legitimate, as when the person is a teacher, leader or healer. They are logical, organized, and capable of deep thought, but they tend to be conservative in many matters.

Patience, endurance and hard work seem to come naturally to those born under the day-sign Akbal. Security, both mental and physical, is a major issue for those born under this day-sign.

The physical security that is a home, house, building or other structure represents may be a focus in life, or the emotional security that family ties offer may draw intense interest.

Science and math, or other systems of knowledge (including occultism, magic, and astrology), often interest the Akbal born because those subjects aid the person in organizing practical matters of life. Traditions appeal to them and they have a great respect for history. Those born under Akbal take a structural approach to life. The more organized their lives are, the more they will feel secure and in control. If it takes ten years or more to achieve a goal of organization, then Akbal people will tough it out. Because Akbal types work so hard on seeing and understanding things in specific ways, they can develop mental inertia. As a result, a change for them requires a near overhaul of the logical framework that they have constructed, and they may resist such changes.

Outsiders may see this characteristic as reliability and constancy, others may see it as stubbornness.

Challenge:

Mental rigidity and problems with sharing; loss of control.

Solution:

Becoming a builder of systems; stablizing the foundations of whatever is done. Akbal

1-Ahau

Beneath the 1-Ahau surface personality lies a self that is romantic and attracted to a glamorous lifestyle. Such a person may find success in a life in fashion or as a performer or public personality. The greatest weakness of Ahau people is in matters of relationship. In this area they tend to be idealistic and can often make poor choices that lead to problems.

G-2 (East)

These types are dedicated to their work regardless of whether they are employees, run their own business, do volunteer work, or merly do work around their own homes.

G-2's sense of responsibility is quite high. Others may perceive them as obsessive and compulsive and inclined to do more than needs to be done.

G-2 people are hard workers, stubborn and often quite thorough about attending to details. Personal sacrifice comes naturally to them and one of their most basic reactions in any situation is to stand aside for others who assert themselves.

G-2's are ambivalent about being the boss, and they maneuver themselves into jobs or situations where they can take orders from above. Most people see them as polite, accommodating, considerate and respectful. An important life lesson for G-2 types lies in making their personal sacrifices meaningful.

Another lesson comes from learning to focus their tremendous capacity for giving. Their dark side lies in excessive self-denial. Many of those born under this influence have strong Neptune placements in their Western birth charts. Neptune is a planet that represents loss of self and a willingness to make a personal sacrifice.
