The Mayan name for this day, Ix (eesh), probably refers to the earth god or to a magician. The Quiche Maya name, Balam, definitely means jaguar throughout the Mayan region. The connection here is that the jaguar is an animal of the underworld, of the earth. The Mayan glyph is stylized, but it appears to show the spots of this animal.Personality:
