The Number 2 is a symbol of duality. Much like Taoists, the Maya think in terms of cosmic polarities. This is embodied in their mythology: there are two Hero Twins, two principal Lords of the Underworld, as well as the two monkey twins who represent the day-sign Chuen. There is the eternal dichotomy of this world and the Underworld, day and night, darkness and light. These themes run like a common thread in all of Mayan myth, especially in the sacred book the Popol Vuh.
MANIK (KEJ) THE PILLARS OF THE UNIVERSE: Signifies the deer, and is the
nawal of all kinds of four-footed animals. It is also the
nawal of the Mayan religion and of the rainforest. This is the day of the
aj q’ijab or Mayan priests; it is power, authority, hierarchy, force, the four cardinal points. This is the
nawal of the four corners of the earth, and is sometimes said to have an association with the planet Saturn. Upon this day, we pray for harmony among one and all. This extends to the natural world around us as well as to other human beings; one gains great power and energy if one is able to spend this day in nature or in the wilderness.

Tzolkin: 2 Kej Long Count: 12.19.18.5.7Kej symbolizes the day of man as the authority and guidance of the principal people. It is the strength and power the fate of humanity contains. Kej represents the four corners, the four pillars and the four cardinal points that were created from the beginning to sustain the force and energy of Earth, the moon and the stars. Constitutes the bearer of the Years, the bearer of Time. Kej is a day for delivery of service as mother and father, a day of the value of the rod of authority.

Personality traits for those born on
Tone: 2 (Duality)
- Decisions
- Challenge
- The facilitator of change
Mysterious as the question, To be or not to be? Here is the recognition of the separation of self from all else and the desire to be rejoined. Walking a balance while making choices of all kinds, light/dark, male/female, good/bad, Ying/Yang, is the energy of this number. Experiencing the differences between one and another is the use and purpose of this number's energy. Tone Two energy challenges old patterns on every level. Emphasis is on change for the better. This break-down frequency will remove what has become obsolete to make new space for what is to come. Recognize difference without judgment and smooth the road to change.
Manik - West
Symbolism:
The Mayan name for this day,
Manik (mah-NEEK), does not translate easily and is, unfortunately, not useful as a clue to the symbolism of this day-sign. The glyph itself, which appears to be a hand in grasping position, is not suggestive of anything in particular either.
Personality:
The Manik type is peaceful, generous, cooperative, artistic and inspiring. While they are generally placid people, they can also be very bold in speaking up for what they feel to be right.
They can be mentally powerful and, as one would expect, are not easily convinced or swayed from their intellectual positions. Manik people need companionship.
For these natives, community and family are of great importance, but so is their freedom to follow their nomadic instincts. Manik is a sign of participation in the community. Those born under it are often deeply involved with family traditions, and in some cases, socio-political traditions.
Family or community based completely on these elements. Manik types are also very sensual, artistic, and even eccentric. Their aesthetic sense is usually highly developed, and they often dabble in one or other of the arts. Those born on this day-sign are very sensual and sexually inclined, yet are also quite intuitive and very sensitive to the needs and conerns of other beings.
Challenge:
To be free, independent and secure in relationships.
Solution:
To accept and be comfortable with their own individuality, no matter what strange characteristics it may entail. Manik
1-Cimi
Beneath the 1-Cimi surface personality is a person with a strong commitment to the community. Cimi people will sacrifice time for others, though they are often not sure just why it is that they do so. They have an extremely strong sense of tradition and are attracted to history and antiquities. They are ultimately down to earth people with deep concern for preservation of the family, community and nation.
G-8 (South)
Those born here tend to have over simulated minds and are often obsessive talkers, in some cases being counselors or psychologists. They are complex people who learn to face the inner world and who know how to get to the center of things.
They are drawn to the deeper, darker sides of life, and are sometimes caught up in struggles with negative thoughts, their own or those of others. This tendency means a G-8 might choose a career as a psychotherapist or an investigator. This type reacts to stimuli very quickly, perhaps over-reacting some of the time.
G-8 people are very clever, quick of mind, and fast on their feet. This facility may be a boon in situations where decisiveness is valued, but it can cause trouble under more controlled conditions. Their need to talk is strong, and their powerful intellect is best used for research or investigation.
One of their challenges is that they need to learn how to study effectively. In addition they need to be physically active by walking, running, or riding. The planet Mercury, the sign of Gemini, and an emphasized ninth house are commonly found in the charts of those born here.
